Don't Play Alexis Sanchez, Antonio Conte: I'm Not Crazy!

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte was unhappy when asked about why he didn't play Alexis Sanchez in the match against Atalanta.
The Italian Serie A leaders must be satisfied with the 1-1 draw against Atalanta in the league on Sunday.

The former Chelsea coach said that the draw was quite good because his team was not in maximum condition ahead of the match.

Conte, who has not played Alexis Sanchez, has stated that he is not crazy.

He stressed, the Chilean striker is still not fit enough to play.

Sanchez, who came to Inter on loan from Manchester United, only made four appearances for the team because he is struggling with a leg injury he suffered.

But the 31-year-old has returned to the Nerazzurri bench in their last two matches, but Conte chose not to give him playing time.

When Conte was asked about Sanchez's lack of playing time after the match against Atalanta, the Inter coach quickly responded.

"You call Sanchez a good player, but players must be fit to play," Conte said after the match.

Don't Play Alexis Sanchez, Antonio Conte: I'm Not Crazy!

"I'm not crazy, so I'm either stupid, or I want to hurt myself.

"If I get a player out of the team line-up, it's for a reason, it's not about his performance or because I'm crazy," Conte said.

Sanchez played only 20 Premier League matches last season for the Red Devils, and Inter currently desperately need players who are fit to be able to play.

"I faced this match without four key players, Atalanta is very strong, with his physical strength," Conte said.

"We did everything we could to try and win the match," he added.

Inter are currently one point clear at the top of Serie A, but will drop to second behind Juventus if Maurizio Sarri's team beats AS Roma.

Juve won their first match in 2020 with great confidence as they swept Cagliari 4-0 thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick.
