Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp confirmed that James Milner was hit by a serious injury after his victory over Everton in the FA Cup.

Liverpool underwent a Merseyside derby match against Everton in the FA Cup third round at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (4/1/2020).

Youngster Curtis Jones' single goal in the 71st minute ensured Liverpool strolled into the FA Cup fourth round.

However, Liverpool's 1-0 narrow victory over Everton in the FA Cup third round match took its toll.

The Reds senior midfielder, James Milner, was forced to be pulled off the field 9 minutes before the match was over.

James Milner who plays at left-back suffered an injury after trying to thwart a shot from Everton striker, Theo Walcott.

It is believed the 34-year-old player is having problems with his hamstring.

Milner was replaced by another young player, Yasser Larouci.

"We see that he has muscle problems.

"Two players played as starters in the last match and one was injured."

"That is the situation we are experiencing at the moment and that is why many coaches rotate players. Not about the title but because of the time to compete," Klopp added.

Liverpool played in five different competitions in just 27 days.

Losing Milner adds to the list of injured players in the stronghold of the Reds.

Having previously been left by Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, who suffered injuries after the Club World Cup final, Klopp has lost 4 players.

The four players are Nathaniel Clyne, Fabinho, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri.

However, there is good news for Klopp. His center-back duo, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip, are rumored to be returning in the near future.
